I designed and managed my first holiday escape on Airbnb in 2012, and since then hosting has become more than a career for me. It’s a lifestyle based on freedom and creativity, as well as a wonderful opportunity to share the magic of my home with the like-minded starry-eyed travellers who pass through.

In 2012, I was a young nutritionist in Toronto, who just purchased my first adult-sized house. I project-managed a massive renovation, which included turning basement into the Marisa Falconi Nutrition Clinic. Upon completion, I treated myself to a holiday. Where most my age were backpacking, I opted to travel through Europe using airbnb, booking gorgeous flats for just $40 per night in the most fabulous of places. Those were the days!

I absolutely loved feeling at home away from home. I loved the minimalist, organized set up of the places I happened upon, and when I returned home, I was inspired.

I never opened my nutrition clinic. I placed a bed in my practitioner room have been hosting on airbnb ever since.

I am the designer and host of Australia’s favourite little beach escape, The Kirra Abode.
